Johanna was quite pleased with our initial job. But on final inspection, it didn’t quite live up to our expectations. So, we came back out and addressed some minor missteps made along the way.

An Old Friend Needs A New Roof Replacement
Johanna is a returning Shiner customer. Way back in 1994, we replaced the roof on her older local home.
Over 30 years had passed when she contacted us with the news: she believed it was time for a new roof.
Johanna was right.
The top-notch shingles we’d installed in the 90s had reached the end of their working life. So, we made plans to replace them as soon as possible.
Shiner Roofing, as it was called back then, replaced our roof in 1994, and it lasted 31 years!
Replacing Johanna’s Old Northern Virginia Roof

Completing The Main Phase Of Roof Replacement
The job at Johanna’s house went essentially according to plan. We removed all of her old roofing material down to the bare decking underneath. We then installed her chosen asphalt shingles in a thoroughly thought-out, step-by-step process.
Johanna was happy with what she saw. The Shiner crew of 2025 worked just as diligently as the team she remembered from decades ago.
But we knew the process wasn’t done.
When the installation was complete, there was still one more step ahead: our end-of-the-job inspection.
Overall, we thought that Shiner Exteriors had done a good job. Apparently, it did not quite satisfy Mynor, one of their inspectors.
Our Roof Inspection Reveals Some Issues
Final checks are crucialon any roofing project. That’s true whether you need a replacement or a repair.
Why?
Even the best roofers can make small mistakes. Unless there’s a process to check for these minor slip-ups, they can go unnoticed. In turn, the quality of the finished product won’t be as high as you think it is.
The Verdict On Johanna’s Northern Virginia Roof
The inspector on Johanna’s project was Shiner veteran Mynor. As he always does, Mynor went over the completed roof with a proverbial fine-toothed comb.
When he did, he saw some small but significant errors. Nothing crazy, but enough to cross his stringent line for top-tier results.
Shortly thereafter, Mynor was on the phone with Ernesto, the crew leader on the job.
Mynor passed the word. The crew would need to return for follow-up corrections.
He came out, took pictures, and subsequently sent Ernesto and his companions to make several improvements on the roof. They spent about five hours in the process.
Johanna’s Follow-Up Roofing Service
At Johanna’s earliest convenience, Ernesto and his crew were back on-site. They got to work straight away, making the needed changes.
All in all, it took about five hours to complete everything on their checklist.
When they were done, Mynor took another look. This time around, the roof passed with flying colors.
